Who are you?

Hello, my name is Patrick Burns. I do not pretend to be a "we," and unlike some I don't infer that my modest home studio is a bustling recording studio. I built this site to offer good post-production to artists on a tight budget. I have years of experience mixing and mastering music and I'm currently employed as a sound tech for live bands.

What is the difference between mixing and mastering?

Mixing comes before mastering. It is the process of taking multiple recorded tracks and combining them into the final mono, stereo, or surround sound track while treating the individual tracks with EQ, dynamics processing, and effects to make them fit together clearly.
Mastering is the final step in post-production in which music is prepared for CDs or the radio by applying the same treatment as above to the entire final track. Most notably, the mastering process gives songs their appropriate volume and dynamics characteristics and ensures that songs will sound good on many different listening setups. Mastering is most effective when applied to an entire album, ensuring volume and spectral continuity across the album.

• If you send me the individual tracks of your song, I will mix and master them.
• If you send me the final stereo song file, I will master it.
